What personal data we collect and for what purpose we collect it
When submitting a comment, in addition to what is provided in the comment form, the commenter’s IP address and browser identification string are collected in order to filter out unsolicited content.
A pseudonymised character string generated from the e-mail address (known as hash) is transmitted to the Gravatar service if it is used on the site.
The terms of the Gravatar service can be viewed at the following address:
After the comment is accepted, the content of your comment and your profile picture will be publicly displayed.
If an image is uploaded to the website by a registered user, EXIFs that include GPS position data should be avoided.
The visitors of our website can download these and extract location data from the images appearing on the website.
If you post a comment on the website, you can stay logged in by storing your name, e-mail address and web address in a cookie. The storage is for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in these data fields again the next time you wish to make a post. These cookies expire in 1 year.
When you visit the login page, we use temporary cookies to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. These cookies do not contain personal information and are deleted when you close your browser. When you log in to the website, we create several cookies that save your login information and the display options on the editing page. Login cookies are valid for two days while cookies storing the display options of the editing page are valid for one year.
If the “Remember me” option is selected, you remain logged in for two weeks. Login cookies are removed when you log out.
If you edit a post or a page, your browser stores another cookie. This cookie does not contain any personal data, it simply stores the ID number of the post that you have edited. It will expire in one day.
Embedded content originating from other websites
Posts available on the website may use embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) originating from external sources. Embedded content from an external source behaves exactly as if you had visited another website.
Whom we share user data with
How long we keep personal data
If you post a comment, your comment and its metadata will remain in the system for an unspecified period of time. The purpose of this is that all subsequent comments become known and approved by us, i.e. they do not get listed among comments to be moderated.
The personal data of users registered on the website (if any) is also stored in their own user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal data at any time (except that they cannot change their own username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.
What rights users have in relation to their own data
In case of a registered account or writing a comment on the website, it is possible to request the sending of personal data in an export file which contains any data that the user has provided to us. You can also request that we delete any previously provided personal data. This does not apply to data that we are required to retain for administrative, legal or security reasons.
Where we transfer the data
Comments submitted by visitors may be checked by an automatic spam filtering service.
